Without taking the necessary precautions to protect your business systems, you could be facing the loss of important data, loss of productivity when your systems are down, as well as a costly road to recovery. Social Engineering

  • Check if your accounts have been compromised on haveibeenpwned.com
  • Use the Privacy settings offered by social media platforms
  • Disable location data for social media and check app
  • Permissions on your phone

Phishing

  • Agree an “I will never” list with your colleagues and clients
  • Check the full email address of the sender
  • Don’t be rushed into making decisions
  • Avoid links sent via SMS

Malware

  • Install & activate a ‘stand alone’ antivirus product on every device
  • Turn on your home routers’ firewall
  • Keep those apps and devices up to date
  • Backup your important data to keep it safe

Secure Connections

  • Know your HTTP from your HTTPS!
  • Never enter anything personal on a HTTP website
  • Don’t assume that a HTTPS site is safe
  • Secure your connection when using Public Wi-Fi with a VPN

Account Security

  • Ditch passwords and move on to PASSPHRASES
  • Use a password manager to easily create, store and recall them
  • Setup Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) on all your accounts
  • Adopt the ‘three passphrase’ model; Email, Password Manager & MF
IoT
  • Read security reviews before buying new kit
  • Keep your IoT devices up to date, if the manufacturer no longer supports it, it’s time to upgrade
  • Turn on your home routers’ firewall
  • Activate MFA and Parental controls to stop unauthorised access
